Paul trained in South Africa, United Kingdom and United States to attain his qualifications in paediatrics & paediatric oncology. He maintains membership in professional societies in Canada, South Africa, UK and the United States. He was elected to the Royal College of Physicians in London UK in 1991. His publications include 71 journal articles, 9 book chapters and 147 published abstracts. Paul has spent more than 30 years in tertiary, university affiliated hospitals with clinical, teaching, research (clinical trials) and administrative responsibilities.
He is a former principal investigator with the Children’s Cancer Study Group (largest pediatric clinical trials group in North America).and former head of the Paediatric Haematology /Oncology Division of the University of British Columbia.. He is former Chairman of the Oncology Nutritional Committee with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and Investigator with the National Cancer Institute USA. He is the former Medical Staff President of Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Vancouver. He is currently the co-chair of the Canadian Task force for Adolescence and Young Adults (AYA) with Cancer and member of the Scientific Committee of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP).
