During my teen years I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. To combat the illness, I had my thyroid and several lymph nodes removed and also received radioactive iodine treatment. Following these experiences, I have been thankful to receive a clean bill of health. My experiences in the hospital inspired me to pursue nursing. I want to bless others through health care, just as I have been blessed. Once I attain my degree in nursing, I hope to move to Northern Alberta or one of the Territories and work in promoting the health of our Native populations.
