When I was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma at age thirteen, I entered the foreign world that is the oncology program at the BC Children’s Hospital. My experience with cancer, while shocking and frightening, has forged my personality, led me to many personal insights, and played a vital role in shaping my future academic goals. I am applying for your scholarship because cancer is now an integral part of who I am. I would be honoured to be a recipient, not only as a survivor but also as an aspiring physician. In surviving cancer and all the ups and downs in the cancer world, I certainly know how to overcome obstacles. Whether I eventually become a physician or I take another path, I know that I will make a difference.
