TORONTO, ONTARIO – On October 24, childhood cancer ambassadors and their families mingled with a full room of supporters and donors at the 8th Annual Purple Party, presented by TD and Procom. The event, hosted by childhood cancer advocates Shantelle and Yannick Bisson (Murdoch Mysteries), raised more than $200,000 for childhood cancer research and programs through the newly united entity Childhood Cancer Canada and Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation.

“I am honoured to be able to continue to show my support and help Childhood Cancer Canada and Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation raise important funds and awareness for childhood cancer research and programs,” said Purple Party Co-Chair Shantelle Bisson. “This is a cause near and dear to my heart and I’m thrilled to announce the event reached our goal and raised an impressive $200,000 for childhood cancer programs and research across the country.”

Catering for the event was prepared by Fidel Gastro, who also provided an in-home Fidel Gastro dinner as one of the live auction items. Other live auction items included a walk-on role on Murdoch Mysteries and a necklace from Royal de Versailles. Throughout the evening, guests heard from Childhood Cancer Canada and Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation advocates, fundraisers, and philanthropists, but most importantly, they heard first-hand from childhood cancer ambassadors and their families on the incredible impact of fundraising dollars. “What a night! Another incredible Purple Party that wouldn’t have been possible without our wonderful sponsors TD and Procom, or the volunteers, supporters, and donors who helped make it happen” said CEO of Childhood Cancer Canada and Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, Jaime Wilson. “We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who participated and helped us shine a light on the need for more awareness and funding. One in five children who are diagnosed with cancer will not survive and we will continue to fight for them and envision a world beyond kids’ cancer.”

Childhood cancer is the number one cause of non-accidental death among children in Canada, highlighting the urgent need for funding and support. Childhood Cancer Canada and Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation are working together to provide supportive programming and more positive outcomes for children, adolescents, and young adults fighting cancer in Canada.
