POSITION TITLE: Director, Development and Events

Reporting to the VP, Development, the Director of Development and Events is accountable for the oversight and successful execution of all Childhood Cancer Canada (CCC) and Coast to Coast Against Cancer (CTC) Foundation signature events while working closely with the Manager, Corporate Partnerships, to identify and secure event sponsors.  As well, provides exceptional leadership to all event teams across the organization while demonstrating fiscal responsibility.
·    Collaborate with VP, Development, to develop an annual fundraising activity plan to identify opportunities and strategies to increase revenue year-over-year
·    Build annual plan to cultivate and steward relationships with existing donors and sponsors; identify and establish relationships with new prospects; execute on solicitation including cold-calls for identified fundraising needs
·    Collaborate with VP, Development in event planning and execution
·    Monthly reviews of Foundation and Grant proposals to determine eligibility and execute submissions in a timely fashion
·    Prepare creative and engaging presentations to acquire event sponsorships
·    Ensure all fundraising initiatives and donor cultivation is appropriate for CCC/CTC and is in keeping with relevant CCC/CTC policies
·    Represents CCC/CTC at various meetings and fundraising events when required acting as a spokesperson for CCC/CTC, and/or developing and delivering presentations
·    Collaborate with internal team to assist with development or coordination of material for Family Stories and other development and communication material/literature
·    Adheres to Imagine Canada’s Ethical Code
Relationship Building
·    Establish and maintain a wide network of external relationships with key stakeholders including:  sponsors, donors, community liaisons, volunteers, media, families, and vendors
·    Establish and maintain relationships within the organization and across the volunteer network ensuring a teamwork approach when appropriate

Marketing/Social/Communications Relationship Building
·    Review and provide feedback on marketing collateral and social requirements to fulfill sponsorship requirements and further engage corporate supporters
·    Provide insight for website updates and event requirements
·    Evaluate and manage fundraising platform website   
·    Become familiar with, and understand CCC/CTC accounting procedures ensuring compliance with CCC/CTC management practices
·    Utilize strong administrative and computer skills to complete all administrative and data management tasks associated with fundraising on a timely basis including using Raiser’s Edge to input and track donor activities
·    Utilizes creativity in the development and design of PowerPoint presentations and other materials to support fundraising activities
·    Collaborate and provide support to Database Administrator
·    Attend and actively participate in management meetings (internal and external)
·    Other duties as assigned
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a fundraising role or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and direct experience
  • Post-secondary education
  • Developed leadership and people management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • Able to passionately represent Childhood Cancer Canada/Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation and possess strong public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing fundraising events and campaigns
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge
