We believe children with cancer are superheroes. It’s not a moniker they choose. They face unimaginable difficulties during their treatments and regardless of the outcome, they deserve our respect and admiration. With this admiration comes a great responsibility. We promise to do more to solve the difficulties our superheroes face and to try to improve treatments and outcomes.
Childhood cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease of Canadian children. About 1 in 5 will not survive their diagnosis, with this death rate increasing beyond five years. Of those who do survive, 95% will live with a chronic health problem by the time they are 45-years-old.
These children are more than just statistics. We tell their stories to put a face to childhood cancer. To spread awareness about the importance of support for these families and to shine a light on the need for more research funding.
