It’s hard to believe that we are already two months into 2025! This year is shaping up to be one of our most impactful yet. More families than ever before are turning to us for support, and thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re prepared to meet that demand.
We are thrilled to announce our Survivor Scholarship Program application window will be opening again on March 1st, with the continued support of CIBC. These scholarships are so much more than just financial aid—they’re an investment in the bright futures and bold dreams of childhood cancer survivors. We’re incredibly moved by how many applicants are seeking to pursue paths that give back to the childhood cancer community, further demonstrating the resilience and heart of these young survivors.
We are gearing up for a jam-packed calendar of events, starting with runs across the country! Whether it’s in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Halifax, Niagara Falls, or virtually, there is truly an event for everyone. We are also excited to be bring back our Clays for Kids event this Spring, kicking off in Alberta in June. Last year, the Clays for Kids events raised $700,000 across Alberta, Ontario and Quebec, and we’re hoping to match that success this year while opening the event up to novice participants. Special thanks to National Bank Financial Markets for their continued national-level support of this impactful event as well as many of our other sponsors. Stay tuned for more exciting event news in the coming month!
We were deeply moved by the overwhelming support for International Childhood Cancer Day, especially as heavy snow blanketed much of the country. The sight of , homes, and hearts lighting up gold was a powerful reminder that together, we are a force for change. This show of solidarity is a clear signal that our collective efforts are making a difference, and it fuels our passion to keep pushing for better outcomes for children battling cancer. Looking ahead, we’re already planning bigger and better things for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, and we’re more determined than ever to keep shining a light on childhood cancer.
In January, I had the honour of participating in the 2nd annual ACCESS Annual General Meeting, a gathering that unites the childhood cancer network from coast to coast. The meeting focused on ensuring that every child in Canada has access to the latest scientific advances, diagnostic tools, innovative therapies, and supportive care. It’s inspiring to witness how the community is coming together—leveraging diverse expertise and experience to drive meaningful solutions to the complex challenges of childhood cancer.
There is still much work to be done to ensure no childhood is lost to cancer, but we know that together, we are stronger. The progress we’ve made wouldn’t be possible without you’re wavering support, and for that, we are truly grateful.
With gratitude,
Angie Ramalho
