We are honoured to recognize the incredibly generous $100,000 donation from the Sarcoma Research Canada. CEO Carmela Ricco Caravaggio says she is “more determined than ever” to continue supporting sarcoma research, believing wholeheartedly in the possibility of a breakthrough.
Each year in Canada, 1,700 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer. Pediatric cancers have unique biological and treatment challenges, yet only 7% of Canada’s cancer research funding is directed toward pediatric oncology. This critical gap underscores the importance of initiatives like Sarcoma Research Canada.
Inspired by the tenacity and spirit of AnnFrances Tropea, Sarcoma Research Canada represents and supports children and adolescents afflicted with various forms of sarcoma. Their boots-on-the-ground approach honours the memory of those lost to sarcoma and provides hope for those still fighting. The funds raised partially through Catholic Education Week and various supporting fundraising initiatives at both the Toronto Catholic District School Board and York Catholic District School Board will be put towards a 100% research grant for osteosarcoma. With Sarcoma Research Canada’s support, vital research is advancing to develop new treatments, improve survivorship, and help kids live their dreams beyond cancer.
Together, we will make an impact, driving breakthroughs and ensuring progress—because without action, progress is impossible.
