New Logo for Childhood Cancer Canada Completes Unification with Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation
Childhood Cancer Canada’s new logo represents the shared history of the two foundations dedicated to supporting kids with cancer in Canada
September 30, 2020 (TORONTO, ON) – To mark the end of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Childhood Cancer Canada is unveiling its new logo, completing the unification of Childhood Cancer Canada and Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation. The unified Foundation will continue as Childhood Cancer Canada, with a new logo that incorporates Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation’s logo with a Canadian maple leaf and gold ribbon, the international symbol for childhood cancer awareness.
“In bringing together two of Canada’s largest childhood cancer foundations, it was important to acknowledge the history of both organizations, while also signifying the two coming together as one”, said Patrick Sullivan, Board Chair for Childhood Cancer Canada. “Childhood Cancer Canada is the leading national Foundation dedicated to research, support, and programing for families affected by childhood cancer. Our new logo honours the Foundation’s past, present, and future, as it incorporates elements from both brands’ histories and clearly conveys who we are and what we do.”
The new logo bookends Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, that was launched this September 1, with 37 Canadian landmarks lit up gold and a social media campaign called the #HeroPoseChallenge. The #HeroPoseChallenge asked supporters to post a photo or video of themselves posing with their hands on their hips like a superhero, and to share and tag their friends on social media, to honour the strength of children dealing with cancer. The campaign ran throughout September and was shared widely, reaching nearly three million Instagram followers.
Childhood Cancer Canada supports families across the country who have been impacted by childhood cancer with programs that include: Empower Packs, provided to children newly diagnosed with cancer; the COVID-19 Emergency Fund, for Canadian childhood cancer families in active treatment who have been financially impacted by the current crisis; Survivor Scholarships, for childhood cancer survivors with post-secondary academic aspirations; and the Benevolent Fund, that provides financial assistance to help a family with the costs of their child’s funeral. The Foundation is also the primary charitable funding partner of clinical trials and childhood cancer research for C17, comprised of leading pediatric oncologists and hematologists in Canada.
