[TORONTO, ON – September 15, 2025]
We are thrilled to share that more than 135 childhood cancer survivors across Canada have been awarded 2025 Survivor Scholarships from Childhood Cancer Canada. Each successful applicant will receive $1,500 in support of their post-secondary education journey.
This year’s recipients have demonstrated remarkable perseverance in the face of extraordinary challenges. Their academic achievements and determination to pursue their dreams continue to inspire all of us. Please join us in congratulating our newest scholarship cohort and welcoming them to the Childhood Cancer Canada Scholarship community.
Background
Accessing post-secondary education can be uniquely challenging for childhood cancer survivors. Many families experience long-term financial strain due to the cost of treatment, lost income, and ongoing care needs. In Canada, an average of 1,500 children are diagnosed with cancer each year, and many survivors continue to navigate the financial and academic ripple effects long after treatment ends.
A childhood cancer diagnosis often disrupts months or even years of schooling. Survivors may miss critical developmental and academic milestones due to illness, lengthy hospital stays, or immunocompromised conditions that prevent them from attending school. Many work incredibly hard to catch up, graduate high school, and pursue post-secondary education—making their achievements all the more meaningful.
Since its inception in 2000, the Childhood Cancer Canada Survivor Scholarship program has awarded more than 2,234 scholarships, totaling over $2.9 million in support for childhood cancer survivors across Canada.
Congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients! Oh the places you will go!
