At Childhood Cancer Canada (CCC), our Compassionate Care program provides financial assistance and emotional support in one place, helping families focus on what matters most – their child.

What is the Compassionate Care Program?

The Compassionate Care Program is CCC’s national support program for families affected by childhood cancer in Canada.

It eases financial strain, reduces isolation, and supports the emotional well-being of children, parents, caregivers, and siblings during and after treatment.

Support is confidential, respectful, and centred on the family’s unique needs.

How do we support families?

Financial Support Childhood cancer often brings many unexpected costs, our compassionate care program helps families manage essential expenses such as:

  • Groceries and household necessities
  • Transportation and travel to medical appointments
  • Accommodation during treatment away from home
  • Medications not covered by insurance
  • Meals during long hospital days
  • End-of-life / bereavement expenses

This support is intended to relieve immediate financial pressure so families can focus on their child’s immediate needs and well-being.

Emotional & Mental Wellness Support

Childhood cancer affects the whole family—emotionally, mentally, and socially.

Our support services include:

  • Virtual parent and caregiver support groups
  • Programs designed for siblings and teens
  • One-on-one counselling and guided support
  • Wellness and education sessions that support coping and connection

These services help families feel supported throughout their journey.
