Accessing post-secondary education can be challenging for childhood cancer survivors. Many face long-term financial impacts from their treatment, combined with rising tuition costs.

In Canada, an average of 1,500 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer each year, and many of their families experience significant financial hardship. As a result, survivors may encounter ongoing challenges when pursuing higher education.

A childhood cancer diagnosis can also disrupt months or even years of schooling. Many children miss substantial classroom time due to treatment or immunocompromised status. Even after recovery, students often need to overcome extraordinary obstacles to catch up academically, graduate high school, and pursue post-secondary education.
